Nature is for everyone’s need But not for anyone’s greed So discard plastics from environment.”
A ‘plastic free’ initiative has been taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and agreeing with the same thought and considering their undue responsibility towards protecting the environment, young students of FIS organized a special assembly to create awareness among their fellow mates to restrict the use of poly bags.

This campaign was a sincere effort to make students understand that plastic is an environment hazard. Polythene bags are polluting, land, water, and air because they are non- biodegradable. A plastic bag if buried in soil will remain there intact even after hundreds of years. Once they enter into soil, they lower its fertility and affect our farmers` production. Besides, when these bags are used up, they litter the streets and block drains and when burned, they release toxic chemicals and contaminate the air. “One should avoid using ‘use and throw’ products and switch ..
to the use of cloth bags for shopping grocery and vegetable .They have been explained how plastic bags pollute oceans, rivers, and eventually our food supply. Yes, even the food we eat.

A short film, pondering on the above mentioned points, was shown to all the students. Through this programme, Vice Principal of the school advised the students on how they can make big changes with their small efforts.
The overall programme was fruitful. The enthusiasm of the teachers and the students towards the campaign made it more educative.
